Other Services we can provide
Water leaks on the chimney
We have a program called “We fix leaky chimneys” that has made us one of the leading companies in the area for this. Usually a customer will call a roofer to fix this issue and the roofer comes out and replaces the flashing but that often is not the issue. We can come out and take care of the real problem for a fraction of the cost.
Most of the time, customers don’t understand that the chimney needs maintenance because of Mother Nature. They lose their mortar joints which causes “Thermal Shock” from the freeze/thaw process which causes deterioration in the spalling and deterioration within bricks. That means the bricks lose their facing and begin to absorb moisture.
Another cause of leaks come from the cracking in your crown of the chimney. This allows water to seep into the chimney. Also, it’s common for a chimney to not have a chimney cap to keep the water out.
A final main reason comes from water coming in from the sheet rock in their homes. The flashing connects the chimney to the roof and over time it can rust and deteriorate which causes water penetration into the home if not taken care of through periodic maintenance.
We also clean chimneys!
How does someone know they need to clean their chimney? We recommend an annual inspection and sweeping. If it’s not swept, you could have constant instances of smoke coming back into your home as the creosote blocks the chimney and interferes with the upflow of the smoke through the flue. Annual cleaning (sweeping) of your flue will keep this from happening and ensure a steady upflow and proper functioning of your chimney.
When we sweep your chimney, we protect your home by laying out an oversized dropcloth in front of your hearth. We also constantly run a Hepa Vacuum to control all of the debris from the cleaning. We rotary clean your chimney. We will clean all of the flue in the smoke chamber and then clean your fire box out to eliminate all of the creosote and ashes that have built up. We also clean out the smoke shelf behind the damper when it is accessible. This process usually takes about 90 to 120 minutes. At the end of the cleaning we run a camera up the chimney to ensure we have eliminated all the combustible debris and as a final proof that the job has been completed.
We can repair your fire box.
The firebox is where you actually put the wood for the fire. We inspect to make sure all the mortar joints are complete to keep the heat in your home and to keep it from escaping to other parts of the home. You can see these mortar joints deteriorating over time. This inspection is included with each visit.
We also build chimneys and restructure chimneys.
